Have you see the mind-blowing sequence of events that led to the original creation of the chasm concept? The short version:

1. a person (Margaret McGrew) is the first person to be killed by an automobile in the State of Ohio

2. the people in the local community react in vastly divergent ways

3. the brother of the person killed (Dan McGrew) becomes an agricultural extension agent, to help farmers adopt new innovations

4. Dan McGrew then becomes a professor at Ohio State and his new co-worker is Everett Rogers who is studying how farmers adopt new innovations

5. Everett Rogers helps Dan McGrew understand why people reacted the way they did after the death of his sister.

6. Dan McGrew's grandson (Warren Schirtzinger) goes to work for a company in Silicon Valley called Regis McKenna Inc. where they are updating Rogers' Diffusion of Innovations curve for high-tech

7. Schirtzinger adds his grandfather's experience to the new innovation-adoption curve and then calls it "the marketing chasm."

These facts were documented during a 4-year study by the Diffusion Research Institute: https://diffusion-research.org/research_articles/chasm-theory-development/

The coincidental connection between these people and events is just mind-boggling!
